Sign up as an expert for Strategic Projects under the Critical Raw Materials Act

Open call for expressions of interest for experts

DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs is looking for motivated experts to help the European Commission assess applications submitted under the Critical Raw Materials Act open call for strategic projects.

We are currently looking for high-level experts with in-depth knowledge in raw materials projects covering extraction, processing or recycling in the following 4 areas

  • project technical feasability
  • financial maturity
  • ESGs (environmental, social and governance aspects)
  • UNFC classification (United Nations Framework Classification for Resources)

A dedicated pool of experts is being prepared. Experts will be selected from this and contracted based on their relevant expertise. This process will follow strict rules to prevent any potential conflict of interests, and ensure a balance between geographical location and expertise.

Should you have the relevant experience, please register in the European Commission's in the experts database to obtain an expert ID. Your ID will start with the prefix 'EX', followed by a series of numbers.

Once registered, please send your expert ID to GROW-CRMA-STRATEGIC-PROJECTSatec [dot] europa [dot] eu (GROW-CRMA-STRATEGIC-PROJECTS[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu) to be part of our pool of experts, which will help us to assess the submitted applications.

The final selection of experts will be made based on the submitted applications, the match with the experts’ knowledge, as well as the absence of any conflict of interest.

Please note that your registration as an expert in the database does not guarantee automatic selection. The EU services will select experts according to their needs of expertise, and the absence of any conflicts of interest as indicated above.

How do I apply?

To register, go to the Experts page on the Funding & Tenders Portal. To access the registration forms, you will need an EU Login account, which you can set-up on the same website if you don't yet have one.

Make sure you

  • complete all sections on the European Commission's expert database
  • document and add all relevant keywords that best describe your expertise and background
