The Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) has published a call for tender 'Blueprint for sectoral cooperation on skills - Towards a common vision on addressing SMEs skills needs in the automotive sector: strengthening the development of upskilling and reskilling strategies'. The main goal is to address the skills gaps in the automotive sector with particular focus on SMEs.
The call aims to support the automotive industry in retaining key skills and acquiring new ones, to maintain and strengthen the competitive edge of the European automotive sector on a global market. It targets in particular SMEs and the goal is to:
- improve awareness of the existing best practices of relevant policies and initiatives on up/reskilling for SMEs in the EU and in countries outside of the EU where the automotive sector holds a strong position
- encourage actions for appropriate and on timely adaptation of the workforce to prevent delocalisation of the EU automotive value chain
