This call is for a study to assess the feasibility of establishing comprehensive tools, including software applications, to track and link information on products, in particular articles, at all stages of their life cycle and to make relevant parts of that information available to downstream users, workers, consumers and recyclers, with a particular emphasis on tracking of substances of concern throughout the supply chain.
The study should assess the feasibility of linking information gathered in existing IT tools and databases and making that information available to targeted users in the least burdensome, most user-friendly way possible.
It should also study ways to protect confidential business information and to transmit information only according to the needs of the users. The study should focus on the analysis and development of case studies, with a strong sectorial approach, to identify the most appropriate information tracking solutions, which may be different for different sectors and which ultimately must also be useful to waste managers.
The work to be done under this contract is organised around 6 main tasks:
- Project scoping and definition of case studies
- Supply chain and life-cycle mapping
- Developing a use case model for a uniform tracking and information linking system on products, in particular articles
- Development of best practice recommendations and future outlook
- A scoping workshop
- A conclusions workshop
