Description
On 30 March, more than 200 postal sector representatives attended an online stakeholder workshop dedicated to 2 studies on the postal sector.
In the first part, the project consortium consisting of Prognos, KE Consult and Sphera presented the findings of the draft final report on the ‘Study to assess and analyse the impact of e-commerce driven transport and parcel delivery on air pollution and CO2 emissions’. The study is being finalised and will be published in due course.
In the second part of the workshop, Copenhagen Economics presented the objectives, outline and data collection methodology of the study on the ’Main Developments in the Postal Sector 2017-2021’, to be conducted during 2022.
The study will look at the evolution of the main indicators of the postal sector over the 5-year period and highlight the exogenous impacts of, among others, the COVID-19 pandemic and the reform of the Universal Postal Union remuneration system for letters and small packets. Within the study, we will develop a cost-calculation model for both domestic and cross-border parcel deliveries.
