Get Digital: Go Green & Be Resilient

The Russian aggression against Ukraine has refocused international efforts on energy dependence and supply chain resilience. In this context, the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, alongside the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency, and DIGITAL SME, created a catalogue of leading European businesses with use cases for a more resilient industry.

Through the initiative, leading European digital businesses are highlighted as they showcase their high-impact solutions working to decrease dependence on oil, gas, and external raw materials, as well as increasing the resilience of the global supply chain.

Kerstin Jorna, Director-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs said: “We need to actively support SMEs to accelerate the digital transition. Through the ‘Get Digital’ workshop series, we aim to ensure leading digital SMEs in Europe, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia can use the Single Market to scale digital solutions that help all our industries, including our many SMEs, become greener and more resilient. Our Single Market is the best lever to promote digitalisation and help our industries to thrive in today’s global context.”

The Get Digital initiative supports companies in promoting their innovative digital business model and increases business exposure, get tailored support on everything from access to finance to intellectual property protection, match with companies from across Europe, mainstream business solutions to traditional industry, and help tackle remaining digital single market barriers.

The two workshops will provide a platform for discussion. The first ‘Get Digital: Go Green’ will focus on digital solutions that may reduce overall energy consumption within business operations. The second ‘Get Digital: Be Resilient’ will zoom in on digital solutions supporting the supply chain resilience of European industry.

The companies that have submitted their application to the online catalogue of digital enterprises will have the opportunity to part-take in the workshops and receive the business support. A jury made up of independent investment and business managers will select the most impactful submissions.

The report stemming from the discussions in the workshops will detail the main takeaways from the Get Digital initiative. This includes the businesses that part-took in the initiative and the actions required to ensure that the single market continues supporting European entrepreneurs looking to scale their digital solutions.
