Overview
The Industrial Forum is a high-level expert group bringing together industry stakeholders, EU countries, social and environmental partners, research and academic institutions, civil society organisations and other public entities to help shape Europe's industrial future and strengthen single market economic policy and activities.
It provides a structured forum for exchange, collaboration, and contribution to EU policy and legislation. The previous mandate (2021-2025) focused on Europe's global competitiveness while advancing sustainability at the core of economic growth. The new mandate builds on this momentum by strengthening competitive and green industries further, with a strong focus on European industrial competitiveness and resilience.

How it functions
The Industrial Forum operates through a flexible and adaptive structure designed to respond to emerging priorities and policy needs.
Plenary meetings
Plenary meetings are held twice a year, bringing together all members for high-level discussions on key industrial policy topics, with participation from senior European Commission representatives.
Project teams
Project teams are small groups of members focused on specific topics. With the coordination of the project team leaders, they conduct technical discussions and develop concrete deliverables (e.g. reports, recommendations, policy input) as well as operate within defined objectives, timelines, and KPIs. Members voluntarily join teams, propose new topics, and work collaboratively with the secretariat to prioritise areas of work.
Sub-groups
For some specific priorities or sectors, sub-groups are established. They allow for targeted analysis and structured discussion on key industrial issues, such as the ‘Focus Group on Industry’.
Ad hoc workshops
The forum also holds ad hoc workshops, to address urgent or emerging topics that fall outside the scope of existing project teams or sub-groups, enabling rapid and targeted input from relevant stakeholders.
The Secretariat
The secretariat, provided by the European Commission, supports the governance framework by providing administrative, technical, and policy support.
