This is an overview covering the application processes for strategic projects under the Net-Zero Industry Act. This page addresses both the application via the standard application form and the written request form.

Application process

Projects that benefit from the ETS Innovation Fund, Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI), Hydrogen Valleys, Hydrogen Bank, cohesion funding and are located in ‘less developed and transition regions’ or Just Transition Fund territories follow a simplified recognition process.

If your project does not benefit from any of the above, please follow the recommended application process as described here below.

To ensure your application is eligible, please follow the recommended steps below.

  1. Create an EU Login account 
  2. Fill out the application form (available soon), confirm, and save it as a pdf 
  3. Once the Commission considers the application eligible, it will create an account for you on the EU Send Web system. You will receive a confirmation via e-mail.
  4. Submit the following via the EU Send system:
  • a PDF version of the completed application form
  • supporting documents as listed in the application form and guide for applicants

Strategic project written request form

The written request form will be available shortly. 

Use the written request form instead of the application form for projects falling under Article 13(4) and (5) of the Regulation. This applies to projects benefitting from the ETS Innovation Fund, Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI), European Hydrogen Valleys, the Hydrogen Bank, and those in ‘less developed and transition regions’, or Just Transition Fund territories that are eligible for cohesion policy funding (where the award procedure is complete). 

Application process

To ensure your application is eligible, please follow the steps below.

  1. Create an EU Login account 
  2. Fill out the written request form (available soon), confirm, and save it as a PDF 
  3. Once the Commission considers your application eligible, it will create an account for you on the EU Send Web system. You will receive a confirmation via e-mail.
  4. Submit the following via the EU Send system:
  • a PDF version of the completed application form
  • supporting documents as listed in the written request form and guide for applicants
