We are finding out more about what motivated Viktória to enter the European SME Week: Youth Essay Competition 2022, and what her plans are for the future.

What made you enter the Youth Essay Competition?

“I saw this essay competition at my university and I thought why not? This might be my first opportunity to express my ideas to a larger audience and that it would be a great opportunity to make something new. I wanted to try something new and something extra”.

The main focus of my essay is cooperation, basically that we need to establish cooperation to deal with this crisis we’re in and we all have to work together to create a better and greener future for our generation and for the out coming generations as well.

What was it like to be announced as a finalist of the 2022 competition?

At first I couldn’t believe it and I knew for this week I had some other arrangements so I knew I had to do some other preparation, but I was happy to do it, because this is my first opportunity and I thought that if I don’t do this now I might never be able to do it.

I’m excited and nervous, but I’m going to try the best of it. I spoke in public before, but not in front of such a larger audience. I think it’s a great first step.

How did you feel when you were announced the winner?

I was very excited and it was interesting to present my ideas. The whole week was an enriching experience for me and just been there with the other finalists was truly unbelievable. The question from the jury was very interesting too.

What did you think about the SME Assembly 2022?

This whole conference is so well organized and all the speakers are so well prepared. And it’s great to meet new people and it’s an honor to be here.

For me, the most important thing was to meet all the other finalists, and it’s so great to meet these young minds and expressing and exchanging what we think about.

What was your main takeaway from the SME Assembly 2022?

My main takeaway is that it is great to see the SMEs coming together and to have events like these where people from all different parts of Europe work together. It’s wonderful to see people putting their individual efforts into something better to create a better world and a better future. I was also really excited to see the Schumpeter Lecture the first night.

What is next for you? Any exciting plans to share?

It’s my first year studying Business economics. My main focus is university and get used to this new way of life. I would enjoy working in the research sector in the whole topic of sustainability. The Youth Essay Competition has given me a great start and this is something I would like to keep doing.
