European Construction Observatory launches new phase

The European Construction Observatory (ECO), formerly the European Construction Sector Observatory, has entered a new phase.

Fresh insights for Europe’s construction ecosystem

A key feature of this new phase is the updated ECO Data Mapper, offering more data from trusted sources across a broad set of indicators.

It highlights trends in Europe’s construction ecosystem, including competitiveness, skills, innovation and investment, based on EU-comparable data collected regularly and spanning several years where available.

The tool allows policymakers, researchers and stakeholders to explore and compare developments across all 27 EU countries, supporting evidence-based decisions that advance the green, digital and resilient transformation of the construction sector

What to expect next

ECO will continue to publish a range of materials to support policymakers and stakeholders, including:

• country fact sheets – in-depth analysis of the construction ecosystem in each EU country
• policy fact sheets – examination of specific policy measures, projects or programmes
• trend papers – in-depth analysis of selected themes shaping the construction ecosystem
• analytical reports – assessments of developments with implications for the sector’s long-term outlook.

Stakeholders will play an important role in this process. ECO will consult them when preparing new publications and conduct biennial surveys to gather feedback on what works well and what can be improved.
