Public procurement: new opportunities for EU companies in Australia

The Government Procurement Agreement (GPA) is an agreement of the World Trade Organization (WTO). It aims to mutually open government procurement markets among its parties while ensuring fair and transparent conditions of competition.

The EU is 1 of the 19 parties to the GPA. Within its public procurement strategy, the European Commission advocates open international public procurement markets, and works to help EU companies get access to global public procurement markets.

Participation in the GPA is part of the EU’s wider efforts to create procurement opportunities for European companies by ensuring openness and transparency in international procurement markets.
