Today, the 7th edition of the 'Raw Materials Week' kicks off in Brussels. It will take place from 14 to 18 November 2022 with physical and hybrid events, gathering a wide range of relevant parties to discuss policies and initiatives in the field of raw materials.

Vice-President for Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight Maroš Šefčovič and Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton will participate in the event. The week will be composed by nine events covering important aspects for the sector, from project funding to sustainability. Significant coverage will be given to international cooperation with third like-minded countries.

Among the events of the week, especially interesting will be the 9th annual High-level Conference of the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on Raw Materials: a stakeholder platform that brings together representatives from industry, public services, academia, and NGOs. It will address the latest developments regarding raw materials in the EU and will have several sessions on the following topics: managing renewable energy transition; securing supply of raw materials; partnerships with Ukraine; and sustainable sourcing.  The Conference will address synergies between raw materials and sustainable development, economic growth, industrial competitiveness and recovery, with a dedicated session on opportunities for Ukraine. It will also address the latest legislative developments, innovations and potential investments regarding raw materials in the EU.

This year the Raw Materials Week will allow exchange of views in a moment when the Commission is working on the Critical Raw Materials Act, announced by President von der Leyen during her 2022 State of the Union Speech. A call for evidence and public consultation is open for contributions until 25 November 2022.
