From textiles to physics and back to textiles describes Jan’s career path best. He went to a technical school to become a textile worker but became passionate by physics, on which he got a PhD.

The unique combination of textiles & physics brought Jan to Centexbel, a textile technological centre in Belgium. There he started as a researcher in 1993 and became director-general in 2006.

Centexbel is an organisation of 180 people with a solid reputation for its textile expertise and strongly embedded in the industrial reality. In the last and with great ambition, they have enlarged the expertise towards plastics looking to maximize the amazing synergy between the two sectors.
