Artificial Intelligence Research Team Leader
Physicist with strong interest in active matter and emergent solutions, Santiago developed the first microrobotic sytem learning at the microscopic scale within his PhD thesis at the Molecular Nanophotonics group in the Leipzig University, where he also worked in solid state physics research.
He has wide experience in Reinforcement Learning (RL) in single and multiple agent problems to achieve autonomous behaviour.
He joined in 2019 to the Robotics and Control Unit of AIMEN where he leads the Artificial Intelligence Department. He takes part in RL, Deep RL, computer vision systems and genereative models in several European, national and regional projects with applications in different sectors such as Advanced Manufacturing Frameworks, perception in robotic systems, Circular Economy approaches and Photonics.
