Professor, University of the Aegean

Dr Philip Azariadis is a Professor at the Department of Product & Systems Design Engineering (DPSDE), School of Engineering, University of the Aegean. Currently he is director of the MSc programme “Integrated Product Design and Innovation” and of the 'Integrated Industrial Design Lab'.

He worked as an R&D coordinator and as an external collaborator at ELKEDE – Technology & Design Centre, developing R&D projects, services and applications for the traditional European industries (footwear, textiles and clothing, and jewellery).

His research activities focus in the areas of product design engineering, computer-aided design, robotics and computer graphics.

Philip holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics.

Anna worked in the Technical Laboratory at BASF-Curtex in L’Hospitalet in Spain (1995-1999). Since 1999 she has been working as a lecturer at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and since September 2018 she is a professor at the Universitat de Lleida. She is currently the Director of the A3 Leather Innovation Center.

She has participated as a researcher in 32 national and EU competitive R & D & I projects, of which 12 as IP. Currently, she is participating as principal investigator in 10 approved projects. She is mainly involved in the development of cleaner and innovative leather processing methods.

Alice Beyer Schuch a professional with more than 20 years of international experience and the founder of Cirkla Modo – a   consultancy promoting changes for a circular fashion future, based in Hamburg, Germany.

Alice graduated in Fashion Industrial Manufacturing in Brazil, as Fashion Designer at the Italian SDC, and concluded a Master in Sustainability in Fashion in Germany.

At Cirkla Modo, she supports different clients on their next steps towards more responsible and circular fashion practices - from analogical to virtual strategies, building value-chain connections, as well as supporting communication and collaborations for the circularity of the industry.

At ELIIT, Alice aims to contribute with circular expertise for the better connection of future driven technologies with the haptic fashion world, for a prosperous and responsible future.

Nikolaos Bilalis is Professor of computer aided design and manufacturing and director of the CAD Laboratory in the Department of Production and Management Engineering, Technical University of Crete.

His research interests lie in modern technologies for product and process development, manufacturing and life cycle assessment, 3D modelling for fashion products and their integration in the product development process, and AI in fashion products development.

He has participated in more than 60 national and European research projects and has served as evaluator for research, technology and innovation projects for more than 25 years, in various national, European and international calls.

Nikolaos graduated as Mechanical-Electrical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens (1978), holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering Design from Aston University of Birmingham, UK (1979), and a PhD in Flexible Manufacturing Systems and Production Engineering from the Loughborough University, UK (1983).

Since 2001, Paul Celen has been a consultant/coach mainly for start-ups (100+) and companies in need of a structured business development approach. He has been, and continues to be, active in the field of healthcare, pharma, ICT, telecommunication and retail. For 4 years he served as VP Business Development at Lifewatch, and 5 years in the same position at Vitaphone.

Before starting his consultancy work, Paul was one of the founders of Supplitel AG, the first independent advanced service provider (ASP) for voice portal applications. He boasts more than 30 years’ experience in general management, marketing, sales and business development in different industrial markets. Paul has extensive expertise in directing and streamlining major corporate development programmes as Chief Operating Officer of Phillips Speech Processing, and as Managing Director / CEO in different countries and regions for ICL-Fujitsu, PerkinElmer and others.

Paul has a PhD in science from the State University of Ghent, an MBA from the University of Antwerp, and holds several prestigious degrees from global institutions. He has been a speaker at many conferences and has given interviews to the world's leading specialised press as an internationally renowned and respected business expert.

Cristobal Costa-Soria has 15 years of professional experience covering activities related to applied research and innovation consulting in industry, being involved in more than 26 collaborative research and industrial projects. He has been involved in Industry 4.0 projects like ZDMP, DIH4CPS, Spanish Activa Industria 4.0, and Valencia region Industry 4.0 Agenda.

Since 2014, he works at ITI contributing to technological watch, strategic foresight, and R&D business opportunities. Formerly, he was a UPV teaching assistant, Leicester Univ. visiting fellow, UPM collaborator, and projects manager & consultant at Global Metanoia. Cristobal holds an MSc in Computer Science, an MSc in Software Engineering & Formal Methods, and PhD in Software Engineering.

He will bring knowledge on key emerging digital technologies, expertise in digitising industry projects, and insights on the application of AI & Data-Driven technologies to the sectors involved.

He has created and consolidated more than a dozen technology-based SMEs which are nowadays successfully targeting national and international markets. These companies conform the Innovalia Group, a strategic industrial alliance which he is proud to chair since its inception.

His contribution as an ELIIT’s Steering Board Member focused on his experience on technology transfer and innovation in the industrial sector. In particular, on digitalization processes based on advanced technologies.

Pablo is Senior Lecturer at the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia (UPV), teaching undergrad and graduate courses related to textile engineering.

He is also a researcher at the UPV’s Integral Research Group in the Textile Industry (GIITEX). His work focuses on the adaptation of new technologies to textile production processes, the development and characterization of intelligent textiles, the development, application and characterization of microcapsules for textile products, and the application of biomaterials and biotechnological processes to obtain textiles with high added value.

Before joining the Textile and Paper Engineering Department at the UPV, he worked more than 10 years in companies of the textile sector.

In 2018 he worked alongside Lucasfilm's immersive entertainment division ILMxLAB to bring their new performance-driven augmentation technology, LIVECGX, to London Fashion Week - a project that demonstrated the potential for digital models, digital clothing and a world filled with real-time visual effects.

Matthew was named as a 'fashion-tech trailblazer changing the course of retail' by Drapers and a 'pioneer and visionary' by Wired. He is excited to see cutting-edge research transforming the future for the fashion industry.

Maria José coordinates national and European I&I projects at the Portuguese Footwear Research Centre (CTCP), where she is responsible for the Test and Research Laboratories.

Her main areas of technical and scientific work include footwear materials and products, standards, advanced manufacturing processes and sustainable development.

She has coordinated more than 50 national and EU projects, mainly collaborative I&I projects involving European industrial SMEs and RTD centres, in the fields of new textile, clothing, leather and footwear (TCLF) materials, footwear and allied trade products, novel processes and technologies and environment.

Maria José holds a degree in Chemistry, a Master in Environmental Sciences, and a PhD in Environmental Engineering.
