Commission seeks views on evaluation of EU rules on electronic invoicing in public procurement

Conference on the Future of Europe: European Citizens' Panel (Dublin, 25-27/02/2022)

Today, the Commission announces the launch of a call for evidence to evaluate the eInvoicing directive.

Since 2019, the directive facilitates the use of electronic invoices by economic operators when supplying goods, works and services to public administrations. It’s now time to provide feedback to help identify enhancements that will further reduce administrative burden in public procurement.

Objective

We are consulting stakeholders and the wider public to get hands-on feedback  regarding

  • the uptake of eInvoicing in public procurement
  • the effects of the directive on the internal market
  • the degree of success of the directive in meeting its objectives.

Your feedback will help us to better understand the added value of synergies with other EU initiatives (e.g., VAT in the Digital AgeEU standardisation strategy and the specifications of the eDelivery Building Block), the need for a revision of the directive, and the efficiency of eInvoicing in terms of costs and benefits for users, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.

Target group

All citizens and relevant organisations  are welcome to contribute to this call for evidence.

The input received will be used to inform a report on the evaluation of the directive and any potential future actions. Interested parties can provide their input to the call for evidence until 14 April 2023.
