European Social Innovation Competition Impact Prize 2021 – it’s all about impact!

The European Social Innovation Competition, sponsored by the European Innovation Council, is a competition about ideas with impact at its heart. The 2020 Competition ‘Reimagine Fashion - Changing behaviours for sustainable fashion’ sought to improve the environmental and social impact of the European fashion market with new products, services and processes, and innovative business models.

One year on, the 2021 Impact Prize will look at how these ideas have flourished over the past 12 months. The Impact Prize will recognise the progress made by the semi-finalists from the 2020 Competition in advancing their original proposals, developing the best impact methodology and demonstrating the best results.

The European Social Innovation Competition supports innovators as they progress from ideas on paper to the development of working solutions. We hope that this support will be reflected in the numbers of semi-final projects from the 2020 Competition that have progressed from ideation to implementation and in the number of entries in this year’s Impact Prize.

How does it work?

To enter the Impact Prize, semi-finalists from the 2020 edition of the European Social Innovation Competition have been invited to complete an Impact Report, which will outline their progress and impact methodology, enabling the jury to analyse their impact and results.

Based on these reports, the 2021 Impact Prize Judging Panel will make recommendations to EISMEA, having looked at the quality and clarity of the theory of change and of the impact measurement methodology developed by the applicant and the demonstrated results over the previous year. EISMEA will reach a decision on the winner based on the panel’s recommendations.

The Impact Prize is open for applications from today, 21 June, with a deadline for applications on 6 August at 12.00 CEST (noon). Throughout the entry period, participants will receive support in writing their Impact Reports with specific Impact and Impact Measurement webinars.

The Winner of the 2021 Impact Prize will be announced at the end of 2021 along with the winners of the Challenge Prize in this year’s Competition – ‘Skills for Tomorrow – Shaping a green and digital future’.
