EU funding and businesses

Tourism is a major economic activity in the European Union and the Commission promotes the competitiveness of enterprises in this ecosystem. The objectives are to maximise the industry’s contribution to growth and employment and support the move towards a more digital, sustainable and inclusive EU.

Transition pathway for tourism

While the pathway isn’t a funding source in and of itself, it proposes cooperation between stakeholders and invites them to work together and proposes concrete actions, commitments and investments at sectoral, European, national and regional levels of the tourism ecosystem. Support for a transition toward a green and digital tourism ecosystem can include new funding opportunities.

Guide on EU funding for tourism

The guide on EU funding for tourism helps businesses, public authorities and all stakeholders to identify appropriate EU funding opportunities available for the tourism ecosystem. This guide informs on different EU funding programmes relevant to tourism, links to open calls for tenders/proposals and inspires by pointing at concrete project examples funded by previous EU programmes.

Tourism Business Portal

The Tourism Business Portal is for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the EU tourism private sector. It informs SMEs on relevant topics related to the industry and presents several webinars to take your business further.

Your Europe

The multi-lingual online portal Your Europe, with its sections on travel and businesses, informs, helps and advises on EU rights for EU nationals and businesses.

Funded projects under EU programmes

Visitors can interactively search for past EU programmes for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (COSME) projects by looking for e.g. ‘tourism’ via the COSME data hub. The application consists of three different modules: map, list and statistics, with different filter options.
