Pact for skills

The Pact for Skills calls on VET institutes, businesses, social partners and other stakeholders to work together and make a clear commitment to invest in training for all people of working age in the EU. See how your institution can join the Pact and its large-scale partnership in tourism.

The Pact for Skills project, Next Tourism Generation Skills Alliance, contains a wide range of useful resources for education and training providers. The project is now finished and its results are being implemented by the PANTOUR project

Flagship technical support project

This flagship technical support request is targeted at EU countries who would like to build more sustainable, resilient and digital tourism ecosystems.

The flagship offers activity packages to enable Member States to engage in effective reforms in the area of the tourism ecosystem.

Skills and Talent Mobility Package

On 15 November 2023, the Commission presented a series of new initiatives in the Skills and Talent Mobility package. These measures aim to make the EU more attractive to talent from outside EU, and to facilitate mobility within.

The initiatives include a new EU Talent Pool to match employers in the EU with job seekers in non-EU countries, as well as measures to promote the recognition of qualifications and learner mobility. 

Overview of EU tourism policies

The European Union supports, coordinates and complements the actions of EU countries related to tourism.

EU tourism policy aims to maintain Europe’s position as a leading global destination and to turn Europe into a sustainable destination, bearing also its social and environmental aspects. 

Tourism Transition Pathway

The transition pathway is a plan jointly created by the Commission and tourism actors to achieve the green and digital transitions and long-term resilience of the sector.

National, regional and local administrations are urged to be at the forefront of change in the sector and submit their concrete pledges for action. 

EU Tourism Dashboard

Developed by the Commission, this online knowledge tool aims to promote and monitor the green and digital transitions of the European tourism ecosystem, as well as its and socio-economic resilience factors.

The dashboard allows you to profile and track the progress of member states in reaching EU policy objectives. 

Guide on EU funding for tourism

This online guide highlights the wide range of EU funding programmes to support public authorities in the shift to a more digital, sustainable and inclusive tourism sector. 

EU initiatives on tourism diversification

The Commission works on a number of initiatives to diversify and improve the range of tourism products and services available in areas such as

  • sustainable tourism
  • accessible tourism
  • tourism for older people
  • low-season tourism

Digital tools and practices inventory

This tool comprises digital tools and practices submitted by tourism SMEs, destinations and other stakeholders.

Public authorities and other tourism stakeholders have free access to this inventory, to help them develop similar digital tools or practices. 

European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA)

EAfA unites key stakeholders with the aim of strengthening the quality, supply and overall image of apprenticeships across Europe, while also promoting the mobility of apprentices.

National, regional and local authorities can join the alliance to improve their apprenticeship offers. 

European Labour Authority

The ELA works to facilitate fair and effective labour mobility within the EU.

It aims to streamline the coordination of social security systems across members states and support the Commission in these efforts.

Their mission centres on ensuring smooth and equitable labour practices across the EU. 

Upskilling Pathways

Upskilling Pathways is an EU initiative that aims to provide new learning opportunities for adults, with a focus on literacy, numeracy and digital skills.
