Net-Zero Europe Platform launched

Today, the European Commission organised the first high-level meeting of the Net-Zero Europe Platform in Brussels, marking the formal launch of the platform.

Composed of representatives from EU countries and the European Commission, the platform is tasked with overseeing the implementation of the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA).

At today’s meeting, four sub-groups were established, focusing on strategic projects and financing, access to markets, permitting and net-zero acceleration valleys, and net-zero academies. These sub-groups play a crucial role in driving the successful implementation of the NZIA and advancing the EU’s net-zero objectives.

In addition to an update on the state of play for the industry, high-level platform members, Commission officials, and Parliament representatives discussed implementation priorities and reported on progress in setting up a supporting framework at the national level.

The NZIA, which came into force in June 2024, aims to accelerate the industrial deployment of net-zero technologies essential for achieving the EU’s climate goals
