The Challenge is a tailored programme of coaching and facilitation to help the cities develop and implement digital policies that can transform day-to-day life for residents, businesses, workers, and entrepreneurs. It seeks to create a collaboration network between the participants so they can offer each other mutual support and advice during their transformation journeys.
Over the summer, all the Challenge cities welcomed their lead expert for an assessment visit that brought the city's stakeholders together to form the vision and ambition of the city, and assess the state of play. Photos from the assessment workshop in Iași, Romania are available in the media gallery.
The third academy seminar will take place in Thessaloniki on 17-18 October and will be the first one to convene in one of the Challenge cities. Another full house of participants is expected for peer reviews and brainstorming sessions on digital transformation. The cities will have the opportunity to be inspired by speeches from the mayor of the host city and representatives of European institutions, research, education and innovation organisations, and the construction, logistics and transportation sectors.
The next event will take place in Brussels on 9 October: a workshop to inspire and press ahead with digital transformation during the European week of Regions and Cities. This time the focus will be harbour cities, with representatives of Rijeka (Croatia), Cork (Ireland) and Ventspils (Latvia) sharing their experiences and good practices.
Until then, you can access the new section of the digital library of the initiative and find out more about 49 good practices from the participating cities.
