Biography
William Connell is currently a Team Leader in the Chief Economist Team at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW).
Since joining the European institutions in 2012, he has actively contributed to the work of Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) and DG GROW within European Commission.
William's primary research interests revolve around international trade, industrial organisation, global value chains, trade policy, and firm-level analysis.
He holds a Master's degree from the Paris School of Economics in France and obtained his PhD in International Economics from KU Leuven in Belgium.
